SUMMARY:Time to Make Polluters Pay: Ending Big Oil Profiteering
DESCRIPTION:You’re invited to a major Make Polluters Pay panel event and reception at London Climate Action Week. \n \nAs public anger grows over rising bills\, fossil fuel profiteering and worsening climate disasters\, we’re bringing together journalists\, campaigners and voices from the climate frontline to explore how public narratives are shifting\, what stories resonate most strongly\, and how legal and political breakthroughs can help build broader public support for accountability. \nMomentum is building around the world. European finance ministers are looking to introduce new windfall taxes\, a major tax loophole was just closed in the UK\, and climate litigation from the USA to the Philippines is taking us closer to accountability for climate damage. The Make Polluters Pay agenda is moving rapidly into the mainstream\, and London Climate Action Week is a key moment to bring the movement together. \nChaired by journalist Megan Rowling – Climate Home News\, the panel will include Steve Wright – General Secretary of the Fire Brigades Union\, Laurel Kivuyo – Climate Hub Tanzania\, Savio Carvalho – 350.org\, with opening remarks from Louise Hutchins – Make Polluters Pay Coalition. More speakers to be announced. \nThe event is organised for the Make Polluters Pay Coalition by Stamp Out Poverty and 350.org. With thanks to partners Oxfam and Global Witness. \nThere are a limited number of places available\, so please book your place now and spread the word – we’d love to see you there. \nSee more details on the Quakers in Britain Website.

SUMMARY:Quakers and a New Generations' Search for Religion - Talk by Lamorna Ash
DESCRIPTION:Lamorna Ash\, author of Don’t Forget We’re Here Forever (A new generation’s search for religion) will talk at Westminster Meeting House (and via zoom) on 20th June at 7 pm.  We hope she will help us in thinking about what might lead a new generation to explore Quakers\, even to make Quakers their spiritual home. \nAt the recent Yearly Meeting\, the question was asked\, “When we look for who is missing from our communities\, are they absent because we have failed to reach out or to be welcoming?” We hope this conversation might draw up some possible responses. \nBoth in-person and zoom tickets are available. \nGet your tickets on the link below:  \nSelect tickets – Quakers and a new generation’s search for religion – Westminster Quaker Meeting House  \n

SUMMARY:Joint London Area Meeting (JLAM) - 13th June 2026
DESCRIPTION:Quick Links\n\nAgenda Download\nZoom link\n\nCalling Letter\nDear Friends\, \nThe morning session will begin an exploration into the question\, “How should QiL use its money?”  The session will be held in a spirit of worship. \nLondon is one of the world’s major financial cities\, familiar with acquisitions and mergers.  The creation of QiL out of LQPT and London Area Meetings is itself a merger of charitable organisations and financial entities.  More\, it is a merger of many worshipping communities. \nAs a single spiritual and financial body\, how may we make the strongest impact in our Quaker\, and the wider London\, community?  Are we still as adventurous and far-sighted as earlier Friends were in using money? \nThe afternoon session will feature a Financial Forecast from the London Development Group as well as a countdown of the essential decisions we need to take before the merger on 1 January 2027. Other business will include membership applications from across London. \n–  QiL Co-Clerks \nArrangements\nThis Joint London Area Meeting will be held at Westminster Quaker Meeting House and online. \nChildren & Teenagers\nYoung Friends are welcome to join the Joint London Area Meeting or may wish to join the events organised for children and teenagers. \n\n10:00 – Arrivals – Drinks & snacks will be available with the children’s workers.\n10:30 – 12:00 – Session 1 – There will be opportunity to reflect on some of the topics from the calling letter to forward a minute to the JLAM.
